Why most wellness corporate programs fail - and what to do about it

Over the past few years, companies have taken many measures to affect the rising cost of health care benefits.  Many organizations have recognized that the overall wellness of their employees is an important element in this effort. The logic was simple - if we have healthy, fit and happy employees, benefits costs will go down and productivity will go up!  Thus the rise of corporate wellness programs.

Unfortunately, for many companies, their wellness programs fail or fall short of expectations.

Because traditional wellness programs:

-          Don’t produce measurable return on investment

-          Reward for participation, not outcomes (i.e. results!)

-          Lack a manageable system that is sustainable

In short, wellness is a great idea - it just needs to be implemented in a way that works.
