Spring is in the air. Disaster Recovery Tip #8

It may be hard to believe, but Spring is right around the corner. As temperatures slowly rise, flooding becomes a major issue in many parts of the country. In fact, the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting another busy flood season in parts of the U.S.
The root cause of winter/spring flooding is fairly simple: frozen land prevents melting snow or rainfall from seeping into the ground. Each cubic foot of compacted snow contains gallons of water and once the snow melts, it can result in the overflow of streams, rivers, and lakes. Add spring storms to that and the result is often serious spring flooding.
- To help business owners prepare and spread the word about winter flooding, the team at FEMA has created a widget that can be added to your website. It's pretty nifty:

- Last but not least, Agility is hosting a webinar next week on "Business Survival: Disaster Recovery Basics." Although this webinar is not specific to flooding, it's packed with great information.
