Nationwide Test of the Emergency Alert System

In an effort to strengthen our nation's preparedness and resiliency, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct the first nation-wide test of the Emergency Alert System on November 9th, at 2 p.m. eastern standard time.

The test will interrupt regularly scheduled television, radio, cable, and satellite shows for up to three and a half minutes.  As your partner in preparedness, we would would like to remind all Agility members that this event will be just a test, and not a real emergency alert.

As the federal, state and local governments prepare for and test their capabilities, we are reminded of the benefits of testing and the need to continually refine your business continuity plan.

As a member of Agility's disaster recovery network, we encourage you to take the following steps to ready your business for a possible interruption.
  • Make sure you have up-to-date contact information for your employees, suppliers and vendors housed on your myAgility site.
  • Prepare a Disaster Recovery Kit to ensure you have the necessary items to initiate recovery procedures in the wake of a disaster.
  • Practice using Agility's Alert Notification System to send texts and emails. Send a test alert and make sure you receive delivery confirmation from all recipients.
  • Schedule an appointment to discuss testing your plan with Agility. Contact our Testing Team for more information.
