The 72 Hour Rule. Disaster Recovery Tip #36
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 09/23/2011 - 11:48
This year has been one for the record books. Hurricane Irene will likely be the 10th billion-dollar disaster of 2011, breaking the annual record dating back to 1980. This year's blizzards, floods, forest fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and tropical storms have all been valuable reminders about the importance of preparedness.
As we have seen, when disaster strikes, roads may be blocked or impassable and it may be several days before assistance can reach you. It is critical that you prepared to be on your own for the first 72 hours after a disaster.
In light of National Preparedness Month and in an effort to help you prepare, Agility is hosting a free webinar tomorrow, September 7th at 2:00 EST. Please join us in welcoming Chief David Paulison, Former Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as he discusses the need for individuals, organizations and communities to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 72 hours following any interruption.
